March and Lobby for Women's Lives
On Sunday, April 25, 2004, on the National Mall in Washington DC, the four leading women's rights groups--the Feminist Majority Foundation, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the National Organization for Women, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America--are organizing, along with many other like-minded groups such as the AHA, what is predicted to be the largest pro-choice march on Washington in U.S. history. The 1992 March for Women's Lives brought over 700,000 people to the nation's capital and organizers hope that this number will be doubled in 2004.
The AHA, proud to be a co-sponsor, has been organizing for this event in support of women's right to choose. Following is some important last minute information for all of you planning to be in DC this weekend.
On Sunday, April 25th, the day of the March, the AHA will be holding a breakfast and pre-March rally at the State Plaza Hotel, Diplomat room, 2117 E Street, NW, 8:30-10:00 AM. Tickets are $10, which includes a sit-down breakfast and program. The State Plaza hotel is just a short walk from the staging area at the Lincoln Memorial and close to the Foggy Bottom Metro station. The space is almost full, so please be sure to reserve your place, by calling the AHA 800.837.3792.
Since religious conservatives in the U.S. Congress are stubbornly clinging to their timeworn prejudices, we also urge you to contact your elected official in person! Come and lobby with Humanists, pro-choice activists, and AHA coalition partners.

Lobby your representatives adding your own voice as a voting constituent.
On Friday, April 23 at 10:00 AM the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA) and the National Abortion Federation will host a briefing on Title X, abstinence-unless-married education, and abortion for low-income women, U.S. Capitol Building, Room HC-8 (enter on the "House Side" of the building).
On Monday April 26 at 10:00 AM Americans United for Separation of Church and State is holding a church-state lobby day, which will include a briefing at the Americans United office, with updates and talking points on pending legislation with church-state implications, at 10 AM. After the briefing, you will go to Capitol Hill to meet with your elected officials. The Americans United office at 518 C Street NE (near Union Station -- let us know if you need directions).
