Oppose House Resolution 4122 (Washington DC, May 6, 2002) Each state and locality has different ordinances on the family planning education that students receive in public schools. There is a new legislative resolution that would continue federal funding to abstinence only programs of which no funds can be allocated to programs that even mention birth control.
Not only is it naive and proven to be ineffective, but abstinence only
programs often focus on the strict morality against sex outside of marriage.
These lessons can easily cross the church/state line. These programs receive over $100 million dollars annually, please let your
representatives know that you support educating students on the realities of
sex rather than ignoring the reality. ACLU has an easy link below to fax
your representative and let them know you oppose HR 4122. Please encourage
your chapter members to do the same!
