Action Alert
Now is the Time to Contact your Senators about CEDAW
(Washington DC, August 27, 2002) On June 26 we sent an action alert about the UN reform, CEDAW (Convention on
the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women). (For
background please see the press release on our website,
http://www.americanhumanist.org/press/aaCEDAW.html )
CEDAW is one of the first items up for vote when Congress reconvenes in
early September. Right now is the essential time to contact your senators
and tell them why CEDAW must be passed. Please also call the White House,
this is one of the top issues that the White House gets calls on, and most
are in opposition. (White House comment line, 202-456-1111)
If you are in the following states, UT, OH, NM, NV, IL IA, AR, GA, TN, your
state has been targeted as one that especially needs citizens to contact
their senators. This means one or both of your senators have voiced
opposition or their position is unknown.(Thank you UT group for stepping up
to the plate on this!)
To find your Senators' contact information, please visit:

underscores in the web link)
I'm working with a group that is dedicated to seeing this ratified. Here are
