Kurt Vonnegut: A Celebration of His Humanism

Come celebrate the life of the late Kurt Vonnegut, one of America's preeminent humanists, authors, and social critics.
Kurt Vonnegut, who was honorary president of the American Humanist Association from 1992 until his death on April 11, 2007, was known for his unbridled creativity, deep social concern, and strong humanism. "I am a humanist," he wrote in a letter to the organization's members, "which means, in part, that I have tried to behave decently without expectations of rewards or punishments after I am dead."
Please attend Kurt Vonnegut: a Celebration of His Humanism on Thursday, May 31. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the program starts at 7:30 p.m. in the main hall of the New York Society for Ethical Culture building at 2 West 64th Street--NYSEC Senior Leader Tony Hileman officiating.
Confirmed speakers include Amy Goodman of Democracy Now!, longtime friend and renowned historian Howard Zinn, and American Humanist Association Director of Communications Fred Edwords. Other friends and family will be in attendence and may be speaking.
