In accordance with AHA bylaws, the AHA Election Committee met on September 26, 2006, at the AHA's national office in the Mary and Lloyd Morain Humanist Center to open and tally the ballots cast in the AHA Board of Directors election. There were ten candidates for seven openings on the Board. A total of 1,915 ballots were received.

Elected to four-year terms were: Beverly Church, Edd Doerr, Mynga Futrell, Susan Sackett, Lisa Swinehart, and Marilyn Westfall. Elected to a two-year term was Chuck Debrovner. They will begin serving January 1, 2007. Continuing to serve on the board are: Carl Coon, Steven F. Goldberg, Rebecca Hale, Mel Lipman and David A. Niose.

The Election Committee consisted of the following AHA members in good standing, none of whom are paid employees of the AHA: Steve Lowe, chair, Ralph Bates, Jennifer Kalmanson, Jacqueline London, and David Womack.

The AHA thanks these individuals, as well as the members of the Nominations Committee---George Erickson, chair, August Brunsman, Margaret Downey, Woody Kaplan, and Lisa Singletary---for volunteering their time for these important tasks, and wishes to recognize the others who stood for election---Robert Dalling, Jack Sechrest, and Pat Willis.

We also thank all members who participated in this election, continuing the AHA's tradition of being the largest democratic Humanist organization in the United States.

The next meeting of the board will be in Washington DC on November 10-12, 2006. Following that meeting the newly constituted board will elect its officers.
