Join the American Humanist Association in Helping To Raise $1 Million for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Dear Friend,

I’d like to be the first to give you some exciting news about a new program the American Humanist Association is joining with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Foundation Beyond Belief (FBB).

Over a million people in the United States are currently living with, or are in remission from leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, or myeloma. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has invested more than $814 million in research aimed at treating and curing blood cancer. LLS' annual Light The Night Walk is an event to raise awareness of blood cancers and raise money for research, free educational materials, and patient support services.

Humanists from around the world are uniting to raise $1,000,000 for LLS, and we need your help. Now's the time to show what we can achieve together when we unite around our reason-based values.
Support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

I encourage you to help take part by doing one or more of the following right now:

1. Register to participate in a Light The Night Walk event near you. Light The Night is a leisurely evening walk held in the fall, and teams set up fundraising pages to help raise money for lifesaving blood cancer research. It's a fun opportunity to get to know humanists in your area and expand our community outreach. If you don't have a team near you, start one!

2. Support your local humanist chapter's Light the Night team. We're asking all 150 AHA chapters and affiliates to participate by creating their own teams. Help our groups raise money for LLS and show your support for humanist communities.

3. Support the American Humanist Association's Light The Night Team. The AHA staff is proud to be participating in Light The Night on October 13, 2012 in Washington, DC. If you can't participate in Light The Night, visit the AHA's Team Page and make a secure donation online.

And great news: the Stiefel Freethought Foundation has pledged to match the first $500,000 raised for LLS!

I hope you will take part in this extraordinary event. Let's join together in the fight against cancer.

Regards,

Roy Speckhardt
Executive Director
