Official Contest Rules

All are eligible to participate in the Humanist YouTube Video Contest (the "Contest") and Humanists and other freethinkers are particularly encouraged to submit an entry.

By submitting an entry for consideration in the Contest, you grant the American Humanist Association (AHA) exclusive rights to the entry for the duration of the contest. After Contest results are announced, winning and honorable mention videos become the sole property of the American Humanist Association, while all rights to other entries revert back to their creators. Entrants warrant that their entry is solely their work and does not infringe on the copyright or trademark of any other person or entity. All eligible entries must be received by Midnight, Thursday, May 3, 2007.

If you are selected as a winner in the Contest, you agree that the AHA may publicize your name, likeness, and a description of your work.

The first prize-winning entry, to be determined by a team of judges selected by the board of directors of the American Humanist Association, will be posted on the AHA website. The creator(s) of the video will receive a prize of $500 (to be split if multiple creators submit the winning entry). A prize of $300 will be given to the second-place winner, and a prize of $100 will be given to the third-place winner. Those receiving an honorable mention will receive a free Humanist book. No prize substitution will be permitted. Winner(s) may be required to verify their entry.

Each entrant shall indemnify, defend, and hold the American Humanist Association and its cosponsors harmless from any third party claims arising from or related to that entrant's participation in the Contest. In no event shall the American Humanist Association or its cosponsors be liable to an entrant for acts or omissions arising out of or related to the Contest or that entrant's participation in the Contest.

In addition to the rules established by the AHA regarding this contest, the video must subscribe to all rules and regulations established by YouTube regarding the posting of inappropriate and unauthorized videos. Any entries in violation of these rules are subject to disqualification.

All taxes, including income taxes, are the sole responsibility of the winner.
