Join the International Humanist and Ethical Union and the American Humanist Association, together with the International Humanist and Ethical Youth Organization and the Secular Student Alliance, for the most significant World Humanist Congress ever! Held in Washington DC at the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel, this watershed event will run June 5-8, 2008, with extended activities June 4 and 9. Specially featured will be a large exhibit hall housing the EvolveFISH Humanist Bookstore, other vendors, and information from a wide variety of humanist and freethought organizations.

Plenary sessions include topics on human rights, bioethical issues, religious reform, freedom of conscience and expression, Humanist approaches to social problems, and many others.

Speakers include U.S. Representative Pete Stark, the first openly nontheistic member in Congress; Maryland State Senator Jamie Raskin; Philip Pullman, author of The Golden Compass; Feminist Majority Foundation President Eleanor Smeal; Judge John E. Jones of the famous Dover, Pennsylvania, "intelligent design" case, planetary scientist Carolyn Porco, IHEU President Sonja Eggerickx, AHA President Mel Lipman, Rob Boston of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, Lori Lipman Brown of the Secular Coalition for America, and many others.

The IHEU World Humanist Congress is a triennial event that has been held in France, India, and the Netherlands. The last Congress held in the United States was 20 years ago. Don't miss this rare opportunity to participate in this unique conference and meet Humanists from around the globe.
