Roy Speckhardt serves as deputy director for the American Humanist Association, the oldest and largest Humanist organization in the nation. Speckhardt's scope of responsibilities includes promoting Humanism in political circles and to the general public, raising funds to further AHA's mission, and organizing the active Humanist grassroots. He regularly writes and speaks on progressive political issues.

Speckhardt is a board member of Equal Partners in Faith, a multi-racial national network of people of faith and good will committed to equality and diversity, and also an advisory board member of the Women's Law & Public Policy Fellowship Program. He holds an MBA and a BA in sociology, and lives in Silver Spring Maryland with his partner, Charlene Gomes, and their little girl, Johanna.
