Humanist Network News

Humanist Network News, or HNN, is a weekly Internet magazine produced by the American Humanist Association (AHA). A typical edition of HNN contains news, opinion, lifestyle pieces, cartoons and humor...just like a regular newspaper except each piece addresses the nonreligious philosophy of humanism. HNN articles are written by the staff of the AHA and a variety of guest writers. HNN is published every Wednesday.

MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR: San Diego On My Mind

Posted March 07, 2013

After yesterday's "Snowquester" in Washington DC (which resulted in lots of cold and rain but no actual snow!), all I can think about is sunny and warm San Diego, the location of the American Humanist Association’s 72nd Annual Conference from May 30 to June 2. I’m excited about our lineup of prominent awardees this year—Dan Savage, Greta Christina, Katha Pollitt, Richard Leakey, and Carl Coon—and excellent list of speakers that includes Matt Harding, Phil Zuckerman, Katherine Stewart, Judith Heimlich, Ayanna Watson, Jamy Ian Swiss, Teresa MacBain and many more.

Parents can bring the kids and join the Humanist Kids Program, and attendees looking to stay longer can attend a full military memorial service on the USS Midway aircraft carrier hosted by the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers. I’m just hoping the beach—where the conference hotel is located—isn’t too much of a distraction! Register for the AHA Conference at conference.americanhumanist.org and don’t miss it!
