Syndicating Humanist Network News Headlines on Your Website

You can syndicate Humanist Network News headlines on your site using RSS technology (What's RSS?).

When you syndicate our headlines on your site, they will automatically update every time we publish a new edition of our e-zine. There are many programs that will allow you to customize how our headlines look on your site (i.e. width, color and number of headlines displayed).

If you'd like to add HNN headlines to your site using RSS, this site will help you customize the way they appear. After filling out your preferences on the webform, copy and paste the code provided into your website.

Here's some information you'll need to get started:

  • RSS URL: http://americanhumanist.org/hnn/hnn_rss
  • Max. entries: HNN usually has 7 headlines per week
  • Table/IFrame width [in px]: This means how wide the display will be; 300 is a good average
  • Open links in new window: We recommend "yes"
  • Integration: This refers to the type of code you'll paste into your website. We recommend Javascript.

Here are two examples of how you can make our headlines appear on your website using RSS (these examples are functioning and will update with every new HNN issue):

Example 1: Javascript integrated, 300px wide (vertical display), showing 7 headlines.

Copy and paste the code below on your website to display HNN headlines exactly as you see them above:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://output47.rssinclude.com/output?type=js&id=18183&hash=c1a1bf58cf3f77eb0f9b41ece63d79fa"></script>

Example 2: Our own flash module for syndicating HNN headlines.

Here's how our headlines will appear on your website using this module:

To use this syndication module, click on the "SHARE" button in the top right hand corner.

Why Add HNN Headlines to Your Site?

Putting the HNN headlines on your site adds new content to your web page every week. And that keeps people coming back to your site.

Another reason to add the HNN headlines to your page is that you will be helping to spread the word about humanism and the programs of the Institute for Humanist Studies.

More ways to use RSS…

You can subscribe to HNN by entering our RSS feed URL (http://americanhumanist.org/hnn/hnn_rss) into a web-based news reader like Google , MyYahoo or an email client like Mozilla Thunderbird.

You can even have our headlines appear on your desktop or handheld device, like a palm pilot. Visit this website for a list of downloads and programs.
